Necrons: Phasing out or new-found synergy?

Now whether or not the necron rumours are to be fully trusted, I for one see them as kitbashes, the image below shows the green plastic rods on the necron warriors to be gone, most likely one of the rods from the ghost ark.

Now while this gives the painter more options, it could be a nightmare to get enough bits... It also makes me think... How can I future proof my necrons?

If they are'nt going to be green rods, could I do a different colour scheme, will I have to phase out my current warriors?

Having the green plastic rods has always limited the palette when choosing a colour scheme for most painters, so, with the slight possibility of this now gone, or whether I just want to kitbash, I thought it was about time somebody talked about it...

The warriors are marching...... Nearly (early WIP photos)

What's going on guys, Kill3rkrok here. Just a quick update on how things are going with my warriors of chaos.

I recently was given a very generous gift, a unit of warriors, by one of my best friends, and I've been working on getting them battle worthy.

So here it is, the first model I have painted in nearly 7 years....

Blog changes...

Hi guys, just a short site update.

Things have been quiet for a few days...
That's because I am currently fiddling around with the blog settings, so there may be a few dud links and blank pages etc.

I will also talk about how you can get your own blog on our blog roll.

If there is anything you would like to see added  now would be a good time to say.

Leave your suggestions in the comments section below.

Matt's back, and he's been busy...

Hi guys, Matt here…

It’s been a long time since I posted! So since my last post, 6 months ago, I've bought a lot of warhammer and played a lot of games. However, this is but a ‘short’ update, with a brief description of everything I have in the works at the minute...

Proxies and Alternatives...

Our first post from Kill3rkrok, kicks off today with a discussion about the viability of proxies in regular games of warhammer.

Hi guys, Kill3rkrok here, in my opinion there are 3 main reasons to proxy; learning, aesthetics and list building.

Proxy models... Yey or Ney?

I'm Hooked...

Well, just played my second game of Warhammer fantasy. 1500 points against Daemons and I must say that even when i'm just learning the rules, IT'S GREAT FUN!!

Kill3rkroks Introduction...

Hey guys,

Well guess i'm the new blood of the group, with my warrriors of chaos.

It's official, we have a new member.

Another super quick update here, as we have a new member to the allies of convenience group. Expect an introduction from him very soon...

Hopefully this will increase our post rate, and lead to many more bat reps and posts featuring his warriors of chaos army.

That's all for now really,

New Blood, New Game...

Super-quick update here, after playing my first couple of games of Warhammer Fantasy, I've got to say, I am sold. However, choosing an army has been much more difficult than it was when playing 40k. Indeed, coming from 40k, fantasy feels like a game of rock, paper, scissors, but in a good way... I think.

Coming Home...

Hi guys,

Just a notice that I'll be back home this weekend! So hopefully we'll be able to get together for a game, maybe snap some pics and post 'em up!

In other news, we have been talking about venturing into Warhammer Fantasy (*gasp!*). This will hopefully open up some more opportunities for battle reports and status updates! And it will mean that the Island of Blood sitting at home will finally find some use... In addition, my SciFi Society has organised a Mordheim campaign, which I am taking part in, so hopefully there will be some content on that!

Sorry about our lack of posts, as Jevans mentioned, two of us are now away from the rest of the group now, so opportunities for games (at least, for me) will be limited to the main holiday periods and the occasional visit back home. I'll finally get around to painting some of my stuff, and post some pics of them.

In the meantime, stay tuned!

Ragnarok Goes to War...

The first battle report on the blog features Thomas using his Space Wolves and the new Imperial Knight against Zarak's experimental Necron force, in a game of escalation.

Knight Knight Zarak...

So the Imperial Knight has arrived, and its built. Its. So. Awesome.

The bigger they are...

Meet Big Bob, just your average great unclean one.
(Currently in use as a proxy of Scabeiathrax the Bloated)

A few years back whilst searching for good deals on eBay, I came across this little beast, a great unclean one made out of green stuff... Lets me just tell you that this picture does not do the model justice, the guy who sculpted this did a great job in my opinion, and I probably could talk for several more hours about how great he is. However, this is not a post about a great model, this is a post about the rise and fall of the Daemon Lord of Chaos.

Future Ideas...

So, after the completion of my first ever tutorial, it suddenly dawned on me...
...I don't actually have a gaming table yet. This has allowed me to begin planning a custom built board, however, although I have ideas, I thought it would be better to let you decide what you would like to see built rather than me dictating the content.

How to make the shattered aquila pt1...

Hi, finally going to be able to put this up after what seemed like the worlds longest delay from loosing the original set of images, sorry. I had to redo the tutorial at double speed to get this out by the end of the day, so here it is:

What you will need:
Foam board (a single a4 sheet will be more than enough)
Hobby knife
Ball-point pen
Printout of Aquila on thin paper (the cheaper the better)
Super glue (although pva will suffice)

New beginnings...

Hi, Zarak here from Scribblings of a Spawn, man this new place is roomy.

Big Guns and Heavy Tanks...

A Little Extra Firepower Never Hurts...Unless You're Against It.

The release of the Imperial Knight has finally given me a non-Baneblade chassis unit which can contend against super-heavies.

With the release of Escalation a while back, my Space Wolves and Tau were perhaps left a little behind in the arms race. Well, let's just say I got tired of hammering that Baneblade with dozens of lascannon shots in an attempt to destroy it BEFORE it tore through my army.

I've already got an awesome conversion idea for the Imperial Knight, which I have dubbed 'Ragnarok' (Seeing as Ragnarok is the Viking Apocalypse, which I thought was an appropriate name considering that it will be allied to my Wolves). I'll post pics of it once its built.

Thanks, Thomas.

Hammerhead and Riptide...

As promised, images of my Hammerhead and my Riptide. I've also thrown in some of my Wolf lord too(apologies for lopsided nature of the images, I'll learn for next time!).

Thomas' Introduction

Hi guys, Thomas here. So a little introduction from me. I'm currently playing Space Wolves and Tau Empire, though I started off playing Tyranids (Battle of Macragge FTW!).

Matts Introduction.

Hello fellow players, Matt here (Macker).

When I played Orks, I loved Ghazghkull and how much of a beast he was, so I formed my version of him, Overlord Macker, as I'm very character driven and love to sing and dance about them and how they killed yours or should they die, how they escaped death and managed to survive that demolisher cannon. I would always give him an elite retinue of ork Nobs with a souped up Battlewagon.
(You must always write ork in front of that, for risk of dishonouring your family).

Sams Introduction.

Sam speaking (Golden Nips)! As one of the 'Allies of Convenience', I guess I should take a little time to introduce my self.
